I get so many compliments on my flawless Asian skin but it’s not all genetics. I believe your beauty always starts with what you put inside your body, what you put on the outside only enhances your overall look.
My go to products tend to be all natural and organic route when it works for me, but I also use plenty of conventional products too. I try not to be too obsessive about any one product since I love to experiment — you never know when you’ll pick up something new and it’ll change your perspective.
Here’s my beauty routine and a few products I cannot live without.
FACE ROUTINE
In the morning, I dab on lukewarm water to tone my skin and give it a bit of a glow and luminosity.
My routine consist of washing my face with Michael Todd True Organics Cleanse and Tone Facial Cleanser, then I apply a small amount of Organic Lemon Toner AHA + DMAE Anti Wrinkle Toner onto a cotton pad and gently wipe over face and neck. Then I dab a dime size of Intensive™ Organic Cream Eye Treatment with Haloxyl® + Eyeliss® on my undereye circles, then apply the C-Stem serum from Leah Chavie, then finish off with Citrus Cream Moisturizer.
My personal secret weapon is – Leah Chavie Skincare C-Stem, a rejuvenating vitamin C serum that contains Lilac stem cells. C-stems combats signs of visible skin aging, diminishes the appearance of nose to mouth creases, and brightens skin tone.
MY BEAUTY SECRETS & TIPS
Like my mama said, you need to treat your face like a blank canvas and take care of it. Here are some secrets handed down by my mom and grandmother that I swear by:
- Homemade Honey Face Mask
Apply raw honey to the entire face as a basic face mask then scrub it off after ten minutes with your preferred cream cleanser. Finish off with your daily cleansing, toning and moisturizing process. Feel free to add extra serum after moisturizing. - Face Sheets
Korean face sheets are unique from any other face masks since it consists of a two-step process. A routine of using two masks – a cleansing mask & a nourishing mask simultaneously once a week helps reduce the puffiness of the face. Using a mask made up of silkworm cocoon powder called baekgangjam helps in achieving white skin. Besides this, homemade masks with egg white & honey mixture are an all-time favorite. - Regular Cleansing, Toning and Moisturizing
- Cleansing:
My grandmother swears by the ‘424’ technique, where you must clean your face with an oil (any cleansing oil will work – coconut oil is a favorite of mine) for five minutes, proceed it with a foaming cleanser for three minutes. Next, set your facet handle to lukewarm water then ending with cold water to close all opened pores and for five minutes. - Toning:
Toss out your cleaning pads and use your fingertips for better absorption. - Moisturizing:
Start by applying your moisturizer in an outward & downward movement.
- Cleansing:
This is what I look like without any makeup (FYI, I do have eyelash extensions on though, no mascara):
Do you have any skin or beauty tips and tricks that you swear by? I’d love to to hear it!

Do you think your skin regimen will work for someone with oily skin? I tend to stay away from moisturizers… what do you suggest?

No, I have normal skin but here are my tips for people with oily skin. Here are my suggestions of what products to use:
– Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash: This basic and effective oily skin cleanser won’t break the bank. This is a tried-and-true salicylic acid cleanser for oily and acne-prone skin.
– Cosmedicine Medi-Matte oil control lotion with SPF 20: This light moisturizer with sunscreen is great for people with oily and shine-prone skin. This is non-greasy. You can buy this at Sephora cosmetic stores or online, retails around $45.
– Clinique Clarifying Lotion 3: This is one of my favorites for all skin types but this light lotion is great for oily skin since it clears pores of dirt and leaves your skin feeling refreshed. It cost around $20 for a 13-ounce bottle.
– Dermalogica Skin Renewal Booster: I love this product! Use this hydroxy acid complex to get rid of excess oil, reduce shine, and help to keep skin clear of acne. My recommendation is to use this at night to exfoliate rough, acne-affected skin. It cost around $45 at select beauty stores and online.
